Twinning Fondazione Bormio-Nuova Sondrio Calcio

Together towards great goals.

The common vision has become a union of intent from which a collaboration agreement was born: the Fondazione Bormio and Nuova Sondrio Calcio are looking towards the Olympics, but also, in a provincial perspective, to involve Valtellina and Valchiavenna. The twinning presentation took place late yesterday afternoon in Bormio, in the central Kuerc square, in front of the public. It sealed the community dimension of an agreement represented by the red Fondazione Bormio logo affixed to the blue jerseys of the Nuova Sondrio Calcio, and which will be implemented through territorial marketing actions and commercial synergies. A partnership welcomed by the respective municipal administrations, that of Bormio, with mayor Silvia Cavazzi, and that of Sondrio, represented by councillor Simone Del Marco.

From the stage, taking advantage of a still mild evening, the two presidents, Matteo Bonfà and Michele Rigamonti, surrounded by the members of their respective teams, engaged on and off the pitch, illustrated the terms of the agreement. “The Fondazione Bormio’s mission - highlighted president Bonfà - is to promote sporting events and the territory: doing it together with Nuova Sondrio Calcio makes us stronger, because football itself teaches that in order to score goals, it is necessary to build actions and pass the ball around. This is what makes the difference and this is what we will do: we will be in the front row to find sponsors and create opportunities by sharing a path with Nuova Sondrio Calcio”. President Rigamonti's team, which will make its Serie D debut on Sunday 8 September against Desenzano, is ready for new challenges, sporting but not only. 2Nuova Sondrio Calcio is not the team of Sondrio, but of the entire province” Rigamonti premised. “When I took it over three years ago, I had set myself the goal of reaching Serie D for the Olympics. We got there earlier. Bormio will be a protagonist in Milan Cortina 2026, so it seemed natural to join forces: we are honoured to wear the Foundation's logo on our shirts and we will try to be protagonists too”. And if Nuova Sondrio Calcio is the team of the entire province, the provincial dimension of the Fondazione Bormio is sanctioned by the presence, among the founding partners, along with the Municipality of Bormio and the Alta Valtellina Mountain Community, of the provincial administration.

The Fondazione Bormio, which already last year organised the Ski World Cup races at the end of December, for the 2024/2025 season will take a further step by assuming full ownership and will have Nuova Sondrio Calcio at its side for both hosting and logistics. The beginning of a common path to pursue shared goals: commitment and passion will support the actions that will be promoted and the territory will benefit.
